<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition device capable of: effectively recognizing characters even if the height of a concealed character string is different from the height of another character string; effectively recognizing the characters even if the characters are fragmented by a large degree due to the concealment; and recognizing the characters even if the concealed degrees are different in each character. <P>SOLUTION: This character recognition device for recognizing a character string in which a plurality of characters are described in a row, includes: concealed character string candidate detecting means that detects a character part having a possibility of being concealed under a situation where a part of the character string is concealed, and defines it as a concealed character string area candidate; confirmation means that confirms whether or not characters are actually concealed in the concealed character string area candidate detected by the concealed character string candidate detecting means; and recognition means that performs a recognition process on the object character string based on the confirmation result of the confirmation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
