<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master disk inspection method capable of measuring the shape of a whole recording mark. <P>SOLUTION: A recording mark is formed on a master disk. A spindle is rotated and, while a slider is moved for every prescribed width, the recording mark is scanned from the inside to the outside or from the outside to the inside of the master disk by a pickup unit to read a reproduction signal. A signal acquisition unit acquires reproduction data from the reproduction signal and an operation unit determines whether the reproduction data is appropriate or not.
