<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both of high flexibility and a high gas barrier property in an electrophoretic display element. <P>SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display element includes a pair of electrodes, an electrophoretic layer disposed between the pair of electrodes, and a barrier film having one or more thin film layers and disposed on one of the pair of electrodes in a side opposite to the electrophoretic layer. A carbon distribution curve of at least one layer of the thin film layers is substantially continuous and has at least one extreme, in which an absolute value difference between the maximum and minimum of the carbon atomic ratio is 5 atom% or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
