The internal-combustion engine (1) has a fuel injector (2) for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber (3). A compressed gas channel (4) is provided, by which the fuel is impinged and sputtered after the withdrawal from the fuel injector with compressed gas (5). A filter (6) is arranged between the fuel injector and the combustion chamber. The filter sputters the fuel additionally. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an internal combustion engine.
