<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a likelihood decision apparatus that can reduce computational complexity and can improve communication quality. <P>SOLUTION: From signal points on a signal space of a first signal provided by all signal point candidates of second signals other than the first signal out of spatially multiplexed signals decided up to a penultimate stage, a neighboring signal point candidate detection section (120) detects a nearest neighboring signal point in a constellation on the signal space having a minimum separation distance for each signal point candidate of the second signals. A signal point candidate selection section (130) selects for each bit of the first signal a nearest signal point from a group of signal points in the constellation having a bit inversion from the nearest neighboring signal point. A distance calculation section (140) calculates a distance to a unitarily transformed received signal point related to a final stage as to the signal point candidates of the second signals, the nearest neighboring signal points for the respective candidates, and the selected signal points.
