<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical-element holding device or the like that facilitates replacement of optical elements, in a device for grinding and polishing optical elements. <P>SOLUTION: The optical-element holding device includes: an optical-element holding tool 10 that has a support surface 10a for supporting an optical element 1 via an elastic member 2; and a vacuum system 50 for the elastic member that attachably/detachably holds the elastic member to the optical-element holding tool. An optical-element manufacturing method has: a holding step for allowing the optical-element holding tool to hold the optical element via the elastic member; a contact step for bringing the machining surface of the optical element into contact with a machining tool; a machining step for grinding/polishing the machining surface by rotating and oscillating the machining tool; a retreating step for separating the optical element from the machining tool; a removing step for removing the optical element while allowing the optical-element holding tool to hold the elastic member; and an elastic-member replacing step in which, after repeating the steps from the holding step to the removing step a prescribed number of times, the elastic member is removed from the optical-element holding tool so as to replace it with another elastic member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
