<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect an exhaust temperature in an easy and simple fashion in an engine having a particulate matter detecting sensor in an exhaust passage. <P>SOLUTION: The PM (Particulate Matter) sensor 17 has: an adhesion portion on which the PM (conductive particulate matter) contained in a gas adheres; and a pair of counter electrodes provided in the adhesion portion so as to be separated from each other, and the PM sensor 17 outputs a detection signal corresponding to the resistance between a pair of the counter electrodes. A microcomputer 44 determines whether the PM adhered on the adhesion portion is combusted by the heat of the exhaust or not and if determines that the combustion of the PM by the heat of the combustion occurs, the microcomputer 44 calculates the exhaust temperature based on the variation of the sensor-detected value by the particulate matter detecting sensor upon the combustion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
