The device (10) has electrodes (20) comprising a mold surface (30) that is movable from an initial position to a predetermined end position, where spatial design of the mold surface corresponds to spatial design of a section of a surface of a component to be manufactured. Flanks (21, 41) are provided for guiding the electrodes to the end position in a traverse direction (35) defined by the guiding devices, where an angle (46) between surface normals of the mold surface and the traverse direction is larger than 45 degrees. The electrodes are overlapped with each other. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a component by electrochemical separation of material from a workpiece.
