<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-performance carbon fiber that satisfies both excellent tensile strength and excellent tensile modulus of elasticity without deteriorating productivity and processability. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for producing a carbon fiber, a polyacrylonitrile-based fiber for a carbon fiber is subjected to heat treatment at a temperature of 220°C or more in air, and an integrated value of heat quantity given in the heat treatment is 100 J h/g-800 J h/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
