<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable high accuracy polarimeter by constituting the polarimeter without using a Faraday cell. <P>SOLUTION: A polarimeter generates linearly polarized light by a polarizer 14, branches the linearly polarized light, which has passed through a sample in a sample cell 16, by a beam splitter 17, makes each branched linearly polarized light pass through analyzers 21 and 31 of which directions of transmission axes are mutually different, and thereafter detects the branched linearly polarized light by detectors 23 and 33. The polarimeter rotates the polarization plane of the linearly polarized light by rotating the polarizer 14 generating the linearly polarized light by a hollow motor 15, adjusts the rotation angle so that detection amounts of the light in the analyzers 21 and 31 become to be the same, and obtains the optical rotation of the sample from the rotation angle. It is possible to highly accurately measure the optical rotation of the sample without requiring a Faraday cell, so that the polarimeter can be miniaturizable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
