摘要 The life of a tool comprising sintered cubic boron nitride is prolonged by causing the sintered cubic boron nitride to combine heat resistance with chipping resistance to a high degree. In this tool comprising sintered cubic boron nitride, at least the tip comprises sintered cubic boron nitride which comprises grains of cubic boron nitride and a binder phase. The tool is characterized in that the content of the grains of cubic boron nitride in the sintered cubic boron nitride is 40-70 vol.% and the binder phase comprises a first component and a second component, the first component being TiC and the second component being TiB2 and/or AlB2. The tool is further characterized in that when the X-ray diffraction intensity for the (200) plane of the first component is expressed by I1 and the X-ray diffraction intensity for the (101) plane of the second component is expressed by I2, then I1 is the highest of the X-ray diffraction intensities of all the components of the sintered cubic boron nitride other than the grains of cubic boron nitride and I1 and I2 satisfy 0.01=I2/I1=0.1.
