Disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention are a method and device for determining a target cell. The method comprises: acquiring information about candidate cells for a mobile terminal; if a candidate cell is determined by cell statistical information to be a preferred cell, then that candidate cell is confirmed as the target cell for the mobile terminal. The cell statistical information comprises: specific information concerning cells having previously served the mobile terminal, and specific information concerning the mobile terminal when said terminal was previously within cells having previously provided service. The solution provided by the embodiments of the present invention can determine for a mobile terminal a suitable target cell, avoiding a great number of handovers or reselection processes, and economizing network resources. |
