The system (110) has a flexible sheet (130) covering an upper portion of window opening (106). A rotatable winding shaft (120) includes an approximate vertical alignment of a rotational axis (2) of the shaft for rollingly receiving the sheet in a compact storage position and for unreeling the sheet in a covering use position. The sheet is fastened with a proximal end at the shaft. A guide rail (140) includes a guide gap (142) for guiding an upper edge area of the sheet. The rail is designed so that the area sectionally projects through the gap into the rail in the use position.
