The present invention discloses a method and equipment for data management and a data chip, wherein, the method for data management includes: receiving written data related with a writing request; writing the written data according to the current data management mode, wherein, when the data management mode is a first mode, storing the written data related with the writing request in an on-chip cache; when the data management mode is a second mode, storing the written data related with the writing request in the on-chip cache and an off-chip memory chip; receiving a reading request of the written data, searching the on-chip cache for the written data(1) according to the reading request, and if the written data can not be obtained from the on-chip cache, obtaining the written data from the off-chip memory chip, thus implementing the result of reducing the power consumption in the process of data access to the off-chip(3) memory chips(2).
