<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the total amount of power supplied from a power supply to a motor drive apparatus using a capacitor for peak power suppression. <P>SOLUTION: A motor drive apparatus 1 includes: a PWM converter 2 for performing AC/DC power conversion of a power supply 14 by PWM control; a PWM inverter 3 for performing power conversion between a direct current output by the PWM converter 2 and a variable frequency alternating current and driving a motor with the variable frequency alternating current; a capacitor 4 disposed between the PWM converter 2 and the PWM inverter 3 and capable of storing an amount of power enough to drive the motor 8; and a control circuit 5 for turning on or off the PWM control of the PWM converter 2. While the control circuit 5 turns on the PWM control, the PWM converter 2 increases the voltage of the capacitor 4 above the power supply, and when the control circuit 5 turns off the PWM control, the capacitor 4 charged to a higher voltage than the power supply provides a power supply to the motor 8, and regenerated power during a deceleration control period of the motor 8 is recovered to the capacitor 4. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
