<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development apparatus capable of stably improving the developer agitation conveyance capability, without generating the overflow or clogging of a developer caused by a deteriorated circulation of the developer, toner scattering or a fogged image even when the circulation speed of the developer is faster along with the acceleration of the image formation processing speed, and further capable of suppressing the variation of the toner charge amount. <P>SOLUTION: Screw members 5a and 5b having mutually different shapes are disposed on the same axis. A developer agitation conveyance distance La per unit rotation of the screw member 5a, which is provided in the upstream side of the developer conveyance direction and in the side of a toner supply opening 8, is larger than a developer agitation conveyance distance Lb per unit rotation of the screw member 5b, which is provided further to the downstream side of the developer conveyance direction than the screw member 5a.
