<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform object detection without omission. <P>SOLUTION: When detecting an object from an image shown by image data having position information on at least a first coordinate axis and a second coordinate axis, a detection window is periodically and sequentially moved by a first movement interval with respect to a first coordinate axis direction, and the detection window is periodically and sequentially moved by a second movement interval different from the first movement interval with respect to a second coordinate axis direction.
