<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic compressor that prevents a race or a rolling element from being worn or peeled off during the high rotation of an inverter compressor using a thrust rolling bearing, and is improved in performance and reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The hermetic compressor includes an upper-side thrust bearing 148 at an upper end of a main bearing 126 and a lower-side thrust bearing 170 at a lower end of the main bearing 126. The main bearing 126, the upper-side thrust bearing 148, the lower-side thrust bearing 170, and an elastic member 162 having a spring property in a vertical direction are piled up to be sandwiched between a flange 121 of a shaft 118 and a rotator 116, and thereafter applied with a proper axial load.
