<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle key which prevents power consumption due to useless operation of an operation unit. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle key comprises a magnet part 63 which is engaged with a rotary member connected to a key shutter on a vehicle side and rotates the rotary member in a predetermined rotation direction to open or close a key hole, and a holder part 61 having an operation unit 64 for sending an ID code. A recess 66 is formed between the magnet part 63 and the operation unit 64. The holder part 61 has an external shape composed of a front face 60A, a rear face, and a side face 60C. The operation unit 64 and the recess 66 are arranged on the front face 60A of the holder part 61.
