<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stacked barcode reader capable of accurately reading a stacked barcode even if a scanned reflectance waveform thereof fluctuates. <P>SOLUTION: In a decoding section of a stacked barcode reader, plural line widths of bars and spaces of a stacked barcode are calculated by luminance values of plural pixels composing image data. Then, based on an evaluation value of a frequency distribution of the plural line widths, a priority order of a T sequence is determined. Further, according to the priority order of the T sequence, the T sequence is measured, and a code word corresponding to the T sequence is acquired. Thus, based on the evaluation value (such as the maximum value and variance) of the frequency distribution of the line widths of the bars and spaces composing the stacked barcode, the priority order of the T sequence is determined. Therefore, irrespective of the level of the resolution of an imaging optical system, the number of errors in all code words to be decoded is reduced, and the reading performance of the stacked barcode can be enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
