<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a powder particle useful as an additive for friction materials, coating materials, cosmetics, etc., obtained by using a layered clay mineral as the raw material to improve fluidity and handleability; and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The porous petaloid particle is obtained by firing at 300-900°C temperature an aggregate of a layered clay mineral obtained by intercalating 1-75 mass% of a metal oxide fine particle inside the thin layers. The method for producing the porous petaloid particle comprises disc-atomizing spray-drying an aqueous suspension liquid of the layered clay mineral including the metal oxide fine particle, and firing the spray-dried product at 300-900°C. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
