<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate illumination light component images not generating artifacts in a gradation correction result with a small operation amount. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a reduction section (30) for reducing an input image; a reduced image smoothing section (31) for executing smoothing processing in the state of preserving an edge to the reduced image generated by the reduction section; and an edge preserving enlargement section (32) for enlarging the image generated by the reduced image smoothing section in the state of preserving the edge. When enlarging the image generated by the reduced image smoothing section, the edge preserving enlargement section performs filter processing accompanied by the interpolation of pixels, and determines a pixel value (Js) of a target pixel to be the object of the filter processing on the basis of weighting addition of the pixel values of respective reference pixels. The edge preserving enlargement section sets a weighting coefficient for the pixel values of the respective reference pixels on the basis of a difference between a pixel value (Ip) of the input image corresponding to the target pixel and pixel values (Ls) of the respective reference pixels and a distance between a target pixel (p) and respective reference pixels (s) after enlargement. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
