<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microprocessor capable of reducing the power consumption of a memory in spite of the problem that a microprocessor which transfers a program to a memory and runs the program increases in power consumption since electric power is supplied to the whole memory although the capacity of the memory in use is different between normal operation and special operation. <P>SOLUTION: The memory is divided into a plurality of memory areas which can be supplied with electric power independently, and electric power is supplied to only memory areas in use.
