<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulation material which is usable in clothing and building heat insulation materials requiring high insulation, has high heat insulation and environmental performance and is excellent in strength. <P>SOLUTION: The heat insulation material using a silk fibroin porous body has a void ratio of 85.0 vol.% or higher, an average pore diameter of 1-300 μm, and heat conductivity of 0.060 W/m K or lower.
