<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar cell element equipped with an electrode formed by using a conductive paste not containing lead-based glass and having superior solar cell characteristics, and to provide a method of manufacturing the solar cell element. <P>SOLUTION: The solar cell element is equipped with a region showing an inverse conductivity type different from a semiconductor substrate on one main surface of the semiconductor substrate showing one conductivity type, has an anti-reflection film on the region and has a surface electrode containing silver as a main component on this anti-reflection film.
