VEHICLE NUMBER RECOGNITION DEVICE, ILLEGAL VEHICLE DISCRIMINATION AND NOTIFICATION SYSTEM PROVIDED WITH THE SAME, VEHICLE VERIFICATION METHOD AND ILLEGAL VEHICLE DISCRIMINATION AND NOTIFICATION METHOD APPLYING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle number recognition device capable of detecting an illegal vehicle such as a stolen vehicle as accurately as possible.

SOLUTION: A vehicle number recognition device 1 in an illegal vehicle notification system: recognizes appearance information including a number, a shape, and a vehicle name relevant to a vehicle based on imaging information obtained by imaging the vehicle travelling on a road; obtains vehicle inspection certificate information from a database 5 for information on a vehicle inspection certificate through a circuit network 6 and a communication device 4 with an operation of a central device 2 in a vehicle information management center 10 by a communication request; and stores the vehicle inspection certificate information in a vehicle inspection certificate database 1a. Then, the vehicle number recognition device 1: verifies the vehicle by comparing the number and the vehicle name relevant to the vehicle included in the recognized appearance information with the number and the vehicle name relevant to the vehicle by a vehicle type included in the vehicle inspection certificate information stored in the vehicle inspection information database 1a using combinations of a plurality of comparison items; discriminates that the vehicle is the illegal vehicle when a comparison leads to different results; and notifies the central device 2 of the vehicle inspection certificate center 10 of the information that the vehicle is the illegal vehicle.
