1,161,303. Fusible cut-outs. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 30 July, 1968 [31 July, 1967], No. 34985/67. Heading H2G. A striker pin assembly for an electric fuse comprises a terminal cap 1, a striker pin 2, a chamber containing explosive 6, e.g. gunpowder, a conductive wire 5 extending into the explosive, and a resilient collar 15, e.g. of neoprene, mounted on the pin 2 and seating against the cap 1 to impede the exhaust of gases from the explosion. Wire 5 is knotted about conductive star-shaped piece 10 which is in contact with the pin 2. Connections to the pin 2 to the cap 1 are made via the flaps 19 of spring member 16. The pin 2 has rings 14 on its periphery which are engaged by spring flaps 20 after ejection of the pin 2 to lock it in the out position. The explosive chamber is sealed by insulating plug 3 and washer 8. Wire 5 may have a constriction at some point or have a portion formed of narrower gauge inside the chamber to ensure fusing in the explosive. Wire 5 and the striker-pin assembly are connected parallel with the main fuse element.
|
