The invention relates to a method and a device (1, 16, 17) for determining, transmitting, and/or evaluating a measurement value (POS) to be detected instantaneously, such as a position, a velocity, or an acceleration of two bodies that can be moved relative to each other. A transmission signal (11) is produced from a measurement signal (8) which represents the measurement value (POS) to be detected instantaneously. In said transmission signal, the measurement value (POS) to be detected is transmitted in a uniquely reconstructible manner and a predetermined offset value which is independent of the measurement value (POS) to be detected instantaneously and represents a time derivative of a measurement value is transmitted linked to the measurement value (POS) to be detected instantaneously. Using such a method and such a device, it is possible to monitor the function of a measurement device (2) if the measurement value to be detected instantaneously has the value zero. |
