The assembly (1) has a footwear retaining device (4) for retaining footwear on a sliding board (3) i.e. cross-country ski. The device is longitudinally extended from a rear end (11) until a front end (12). The board has a receiving zone (27) for longitudinally receiving the device with respect to the board. A plastic wedge (35) inclines the device longitudinally with respect to the board, so that the level of the device is reduced from the front end towards the rear end.
