<p>A method of making a component using a mould which comprises a first part 214 which includes a surface 222 with at least one recess 216 and a second part 232 which includes a formation 244 (e.g. a protrusion) which in use focuses pressure onto powder 218 located in said recess 216. The parts 214 & 232 are enclosed in a canister 212 which also contains a volume filled with powder 218 bordered by the first part 214 and a seal 236. The component is formed from the powder 218 by hot isostatic pressing the canister 212 which causes the second part 232 to move relative to the first part 214 thus consolidating powder 218, with pressure focussed on powder in the recess 216. The canister 212 and the first and second parts 214 & 232 are then removed from the component. The first part 214 comprises a holding piece which has a through-hole therein and a plurality of pieces which are inserted into the through-hole and form the recess.</p> |
