The cover has an upper part (57) for heat insulation of an upper wall of a housing section (4), and side parts (55, 56) for heat insulation of side walls of the housing section. The upper and side parts are designed as a modular assembly set and detachably arranged at each other for heat insulation of the housing section. The side part is designed in an L-shaped cross-section. A bottom section is integrally arranged at the side part for heat insulation of a lower wall of the housing section. The side parts include a middle section (60) with a lesser thickness than flange sections (61, 62). An independent claim is also included for a multi-screw extruder for treating a plastic material.
