1,259,036. Spray carburettor. NIPPON DENSO K.K. Sept.22, 1969 [Sept. 20, 1968], No.46509/69. Heading F1B . [Also in Divisions G2 and G3] A fuel injection system for an I.C. engine operable with mixture compression and separate ignition comprises a fuel valve operable to determine the fuel quantity injected into the intake manifold, means for measuring the static and total pressures of the inducted air flowing in the intake manifold, at least one fluidic amplifier element for amplifying the static and total pressures and means for controlling the fuel valve responsively to the amplified pressures. The static P 1 and total pressure P 2 are fed through fluidic amplifers 7 and 8 to chambers 12 and 11 of a pressure regulator. The pressure differential causes diaphragm 10 to act on an adjusting member 14 connected to a valve member 20 which controls the flow of fuel by-passed from chamber 18 back to reservoir 22. Fuel from reservoir 22 is supplied to the fuel injector 26 through a restrictor 24 by a pump 23, the pressure upstream and downstream of the restictor being respectively communicated to chambers 17 and 18 to act on diaphragm 15. The pressure differential across diaphragm 15 acts in opposition to the pressure differential across diaphragm 14 to cause the valve member 20 to take up an equilibrium position which allows fuel in excess of the desired quantity to be by-passed back to the reservoir 22. |
