A method for diagnosing influenza comprises the laboratory examination of peripheral blood leukocytes. The native blood in a volume of 20 µL in mixed on the slide with the equal volume of fluorochrome acridine orange diluted at 1:10000 with isotonic physiologic saline. Upon 45-min incubation, the specimen is examined under luminescent microscope. The percentage of leukocytes with polychromatic (green, yellow-orange and red) nuclear fluorescence is assessed. The quantitative criterion of the reverse shift of luminescence of leukocyte affected by influenza virus is used for ascertaining the virus infection:, (1). |
