The invention relates to experimental medicine and veterinary, in particular to agent of antiviral protection and can be used as virucide. Disclosed is a method for the preparation of 2-{[3-cyano-3-(1-methyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-yliden)-2-oxopropyl]-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl]amino}acetic acid and use thereof as virucide. The technical result in that the substance exhibits antiviral activity against mosquito iridovirus. Toxic effect of the preparation on model system of greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella) larvae is not observed.
