<p>The invention relates to a steel transverse element (33) component of a drive belt (3) for use in a continuously variable transmission, which drive belt (3) comprises a number of such transverse elements (33) that are slidingly included therein relative to the circumference of an endless tensile element (31) thereof. According to the invention the transverse elements (33) are provided with a microstructure that, at least within 100 micron (µm) from the outer surface (35) thereof, includes more than 25 volume percent austenite phase for realizing an optimum wear resistance.</p> |
