A system for enabling fluid flow is provided which includes a plurality of frusto-conical elements and central and outer spherical shells which enclose the frusto-conical elements. The elements are constrained between the central and outer spherical shells, and an input and an output allow fluid flow into and out of the system. The geometry of the frusto-conical elements and their alignment within the system allows the formation of chambers between adjacent elements and their central and outer shells. The elements are free to roll about one another within the system in a synchronized manner. This synchronized rolling is results in a cyclical change in volume of those chambers. |
