PURPOSE: A semiconductor device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to easily secure a contact area between a storage node contact plug and a landing plug by including the landing plug which is electrically separated by a bit line. CONSTITUTION: A device isolation layer is formed on a substrate and defines a plurality of active regions. A landing plug(38) connects one edge of the active region to another edge of the adjacent active region. A storage node contact plug is formed on the landing plug. A bit line(47) electrically separates the landing plug from the storage node contact plug. A plurality of buried gates(201) are formed on the substrate and intersects the bit line.
