PURPOSE: A proximity sensor is provided to prevent power waste by automatically turning on and off the display of a terminal since the near-far of user is determined. CONSTITUTION: A proximity sensor comprises a lighting-emitting unit(110), a photo diode(120), and a light-shielding layer(125). The lighting-emitting unit emits the light to the outside. The photo diode accepts the light reflected from an external object. Based on the amount of light accepted in the photo diode, the light-shielding layer recognizes the distance to external object.
