Screw extruder has a main screw conveyor and, leading into this, a secondary screw feed, driven by a slip ring motor. The revolutionary rate of the screw is automatically adjusted by the torque on the drive provided by the material in the conveyor against the screw. Increased feed supply causes higher pressure and thus higher torque in the conveyor screw, which slows the speed of revolution of the screw reducing the output i.e. compensating for the increased feed. |
