Absorbable device for the extended release of an active ingredient in a periodontal pocket for the treatment of periodontal disease, is claimed, where the device is in the form of a cellulosic support of dimensions suitable for insertion into a periodontal pocket, and cellulosic support becomes absorbable by oxidation prior to impregnating the active ingredient. ACTIVITY : Antiinflammatory; Antibacterial. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
