[Also in Division A4] A variable-throw crank, e.g. for varying the angle of wipe of a vehicle windscreen wiper, Fig. 2 (not shown), comprises a crank lever 12 on a driving shaft 11 and carrying a crank pin 18 on a disc 15 having a polygonal, e.g. square, spigot 16 received in a corresponding hole 13 or 14 in the lever 12, the throw being varied by moving the disc 15 from hole 13 to hole 14 or vice versa, and/or by rotating the disc through 90 degrees and replacing it in the same hole to provide four distinct values of crank throw for each hole. The pin 18 is mounted on the disc 15 so as not to lie on the perpendicular bisectors of the spigot sides or on the diagonals of the spigot. The disc is retained on the lever by a nut 19 engaging a bolt 17.</p> |
