The device has an upstream wall (38) that comprises opened upstream zones (54), and a downstream wall (40) having closed downstream zones (56') and opened downstream zones (54') between the closed downstream zones. The upstream and downstream walls are adjusted with respect to each other. The walls are utilized to retain particles i.e. paint particles, from polluted air crossing baffles of the upstream wall. The walls are provided with a non-porous surface opposite to the particles. The walls are made of plastic.
