<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical component for reducing molding time and improving optical performance of a molded article by heating the surface of a base material intensively, and an optical component manufacturing device employing the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical component is designed for manufacturing an optical component by bringing a mold, which is partially made of an infrared permeable material, into close contact with a base material. The base material is irradiated with an infrared ray while the mold is spaced from the base material.
