<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem with a conventional organic EL display device in which the characteristics of a driver transistor cannot be detected at high accuracy and high speed. <P>SOLUTION: A display device comprises: a plurality of pixels each including a light-emitting element and a driver transistor for supplying current corresponding to the gradation value to the light-emitting element; detection means for detecting the characteristics of each driver transistor; means for supplying a first voltage signal between a gate and a source of each driver transistor after the light emission of each light-emitting element; and means for supplying a second voltage signal different from the first voltage signal between the gate and the source of each driver transistor after the supply of the first voltage signal. The detection means detects the characteristics of each driver transistor in a period where the second voltage signal is supplied.
