PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor in which superposition of surge voltage is eliminated.

SOLUTION: An electric motor 4 is connected to an inverter 9 having a wide gap band semiconductor element through a terminal 6 provided on a hermetically sealed container 5. The inverter 9 is detachably mounted on a terminal 6 from the outside of the hermetically sealed container 5 and is electrically connected to the electric motor 4.
