<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a secondary battery from being charged with the current amount which causes a load on the secondary battery without impairing functions as a back up power supply. <P>SOLUTION: A charging device 100 is composed of a secondary battery 1, constant current circuits 31 and 32, a DRAM 23, and an electric power source 8. When the charging device 100 determines that predetermined kinds of data are not stored in the DRAM 23, the charging device 100 charges the secondary battery 1 with a predetermined electric power supply amount.
