<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect the temperature of a heating rotor in a fixing device and image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A fixing device 30 is provided with a thermistor 56 and a thermo-pile 57 for detecting the temperature of a heat roller 51. The thermistor 56 is provided above the heat roller 51 without touching it and detects the temperature of the atmosphere.
