The aquarium (10) has a water container (12) with displaying objects e.g. biological organisms such as water plants, where the container has a supply device (16) engaged with a water column (18) below a maximum water column height. The water column is formed by the filled container, and the supply device forms a horizontal access water surface (22) at access height level (24), where the water surface is limited by an air chamber in an upward direction. The water column is closed against atmospheric air pressure of the air chamber above the water surface in an air-tight manner.
