<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupler that prevents leakage of a liquid and facilitates a connecting operation. <P>SOLUTION: Two flow passages 10, 13 having openings positioned apart from each other in an axial direction are formed in a fixed shaft 5; two O-rings 17, 19 adhering to the outer circumferential face of the fixed shaft 5 are held on the inner circumferential face of a piston 14 that moves backward with respect to the fixed shaft 5; and by connecting a socket 2 to a plug 1, the piston 14 is pushed by the socket to move backward to communicate the flow passages 10, 13. When a valve element 33 having flow passages 42, 43 communicating with the first flow passage 10 formed therein is pushed by the fixed shaft 5 to move backward, the open end of the flow passage 43 passes over the O-ring 35 and opens inside a cylinder 30. The first flow passage 10 and the flow passage 42 of the valve element 33 are communicated with each other by the contact between the tip end of the fixed shaft 5 and the tip end of the valve element 33, and thereby, the plug 1 and the socket 2 are communicated with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
