<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability by starting a handwriting input operation by easily calling a write function for displayed contents through operation of a touch panel. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an information processing apparatus in which a touch panel is disposed on a screen of a display unit. While display data such as contents are displayed on the screen, a user performs a predetermined switching operation on the touch panel, thereby setting a handwriting input mode and writing handwriting data. The predetermined switching operation is statically instructing at least one point on the touch panel and dynamically instructing another point.
